The City & Horses
The City & Horses is the work of Brooklyn-based songwriter Marc Cantone. Marc came to New York after his German girlfriend left him for a Turkish chef. Marc doesn't like large crowds or loud noises and playing shows had been a problem. In lieu of live performance, Marc spent a number of years indoors posting songs on his makeshift website, Agoraphobic Aerobics.
Then White Shoe Records discovered his incredibly unique approach to the pop song and the time had come to leave the house. With WSR's support and encouragement, Marc took steps to overcome his anxiety and in 2007 formed a live band. The group has become regulars on New York's indie circuit performing Marc's pretty pop songs about being afraid, loving a German girl and revering historical figures from the American Revolution. Sometimes they play aggressive songs about raising white flags, not drinking whiskey and the Russian military.
The band is recording their White Shoe debut with producers John Davis and Aaron Nevezie at Brooklyn's Bunker Studios. The album will be released in the summer of 2008.
