Twice as Bright
Greg Hoy - guitars, keyboards, vocal
Katie Ender - bass, cello, vocal
Dave Sharma - drums
Twice As Bright sounds like Greg's LP collection: back when music blasted from component stereos, or tape decks on the beach, or car radios with the windows down -- when melody and repetition were embraced.
And thus, a record and band was born: basic tracks, recorded to tape over a few sessions at The Bunker Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, transferred and finished at Greg's Blue Door Studio over several seasons.
Others provided talent -- Anthony Lee Rogers composed an amazing string arrangement long distance from Portland, OR. Andy Rapoport added some occasional bass parts and backwards guitar. Rebecca Pronsky sang a bit. White Shoe's very own Neil Lipuma provided a great chorus lyric and melody when Greg got stuck (check 'Amateur Camera'). Robin Fowler, who played live drums for the band for awhile, added his talents to tracks for future release.
It was mixed and mashed with Cuisinart-like precision into many permutations. The final song selection was then 'professionally mastered' (but we won't get into all that), and the artist Bill Miller provided a logo for the album cover. The album and bonus EP will be available as CD and digital download this summer.
Bio:
Greg and Dave met in 2001 and started a band. Then that band became another band. Then they had another band. Now they play as Twice As Bright. Katie Ender plays the cello and the bass.
Additionally, Greg's played a lot of live shows and recorded with a lot of groups. Dave's kinda well-known on the DJ scene Katie played music in Chicago before coming to NYC. She's also a doctor and holds a medal for singles figure skating.
Greg's put out a few CDs under his own name. Dave played on one, 'Forever Endeavour', and they played a lot of live shows around it. They also had a band called Yearbook for awhile.
'Twice As Bright' is the band's first album and first recording for White Shoe.
